Philosophy of Worship

Worship is central to the lives of billions of people.  Yet it is a relatively neglected topic in contemporary philosophy.  This project, funded by a grant from the John Templeton Foundation, aims to fill this lacuna. The project will draw in part on the Jewish tradition and recent empirical work, but welcomes insight from anywhere.

The main project activities are two summer workshops.  We will also be awarding up to four popular essay prizes and plan to publish an edited volume on the philosophy of worship.
